The Rhino Without a Horn

“Wear your horn with pride my son”

That`s what father always told me,

His chest puffed out with pride that day

Mother`s coming home.

“You stuck out so much I couldn’t not notice you”

That`s what father said to my mother,

I remember that day and I remember this.

Searching for the dirty white curved tusk

He didn’t find it…

This was the day that mother didn’t come home

The day that the panic came towards us and engulfed.

Leaving shadows of the rhino without a tusk

This rhino was no nameless shadow,

she was my Mother.
