Types of contributions
Although our website currently features articles only, contributions are not limited to written work; other forms of expression including but not limited to photograph’s, book or film reviews and interviews are welcome. We understand that people express themselves in different ways therefore our aim to provide a platform for individuals with varying skills and interests to share their work.
The Best of Africa features a wide range of topics on African and global politics and development. We have published articles on a range of topics including conflict, migration, agriculture, American foreign policy, democracy and family planning.
Word count and Style
We accept submissions that are 800 words or less. The topic selected should be on a relevant or current issues in African and global politics and development. Your work should be engaging and factual. Ensure that your work is detailed and you should hyperlink key points as much as you can. Hyperlinks give readers easy access to the sources used. In consideration of editors, please refrain from using offensive language.
Once received we will edit your work and then send it to you for approval. Once approved we will upload your work.
How to submit a contribution.
- Send a Word attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org
- Written work should include a title which may be changed during editing.
- If you wish to contribute regularly (at least once a month), send a bio (100-150 words) written in the third person and a picture of yourself to be uploaded to the contributors page of the website. A monthly deadline will be set from the day your first submission is uploaded.
Types of contributors
We welcome regular contributors who are willing to contribute at least once a month and guest contributors who can provide one off contributions. Regular contributors will have their bio featured on the contributor’s section of the website while guest contributors will have their name featured.
There is no payment offered at this point for contributions as no profit is earned from the website. The key incentive we offer is a platform for individuals to publish their work. If you are a recent graduate or in education, this is a good opportunity for you to gain experience that will look good on your CV!
